How the media cover Mindanao: A civil-society perspective
LAWYER Zainudin Malang, founder and executive director of the Bangsamoro Center for Law and Policy, presented a civil-society view of how the media covered the events and issues that emanated from the bungled signing of the memorandum of agreement on ancestral domain (MOA-AD) between the Arroyo government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
In the third session of the PCIJ-Newsbreak seminar on “Reporting on Conflict and Peace: The Story of Mindanao,” Malang pointed to gaps in the reportage, particularly the lack of context of stories that tackled the MOA-AD and the peace process.
