Malou C. Mangahas

MALOU Mangahas is a veteran of Philippine journalism and multi-tasking. She edited the Philippine Collegian and later presided over the UP Student Council while working on a journalism degree, graduating
cum laude. (She finished her thesis on a portable typewriter while on the run). She is a fellow of the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University.

Malou has worked for various newspapers and news agencies based in Manila and overseas, while celebrating the joys of domestic life.

She has worked for radio (briefly as a program host) and television (as executive producer of Debate, and as co-host of Palaban.

Until recently, she was the first editor in chief of gmanews.tv, while working as Vice President for Research and Content Development of GMA News and Public Affairs, on top of conducting training seminars for the network’s journalists.

Malou keeps a well-stocked kitchen for husband Roel R. Landingin, The Financial Times‘ senior correspondent in Manila, and their college-bound daugher, who is also a basketball player. Malou tends a small garden where her two kalamansi trees once yielded 75 fruits, a feat in the urban jungle called Metro Manila.
