De Castro’s rating up — SWS

NET satisfaction with Vice President Noli de Castro and three other top government officials has gone up, according to the Social Weather Stations’ third quarter survey.

Their ratings:

  • De Castro: +39 in August this year, from +22 last May
  • Senate President Franklin Drilon: +22, from +8
  • Speaker Jose de Venecia: 0, from Net -2
  • Supreme Court Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr.: +13, from +1

Nearly three-fourths of the 1,200 adults polled by SWS from Aug. 26 to Sept. 5 also say De Castro is definitely or somewhat capable of governing in case President Arroyo resigns or is removed from office.

De castro should come out of the dark and speak out his mind on the current political crisis. After all, he is the constitutional successor of GMA. His favorable rating indicates that people are open to the fact of a De Castro Presidency.

I did not vote for Noli, but since he won the post, isn’t it unfair to prejudge him before he gets to prove his worth as a President? Or do we just prefer a proven liar any time? Wasn’t GMA’s “I will not run for re-election” a glaring proof of her dishonesty 2 years back, yet we continue to allow her to rule? Has Noli done anything basically bad, like lying through his teeth (as GMA did literally too) that should make us not trust him?

on the contrary (peacelabenpinay), it must not be seen as opportunity by anyone (kahit na si bise presidente mismo).

He must stick with his stance on following our constitution. Instead of leading the RIO call for GMA, he must just do his work as VP and HUDCC Chair. And if the constitution call him to replace GMA, then he will stand by it (proper time to assume presidency).

Noli is not greedy (power-hungry politician). Siguro si Drilon, pede pa. Hindi nga bat palihim niyang inasikaso iyong VP slot (to be vacated by Noli – if ever he assumes the presidency). Kaya nga lang, Noli turned down his group’s proposal. Because Noli is law abiding citizen. He wants, if ever he assumes the position, to be mandated by law.

Another thing is, he does not want Drilon as SP and as a person lalo na siguro as VP nya (if ever). Noli has been always the subject to a personal attack from Drilon (Like “Bobo” si Noli – Walang Alam). Tapos ngayon lalapitan niya si Noli. Oportunista talaga.

i agree with edward. Noli, or anybody else should not take this survey’s results as an opportunity of any kind. see what happened to Drilon when he got too greedy– he was so sure he was going to take the highest post. those who wanted arroyo out never considered including Noli in their alliance, they even wanted him out too.

now they want Noli on their side, too late.

ang tanong, hahayaan ba nila at hindi guguluhin si noli sa pagkapresidente sakaling mapatalsik si gma? not a chance, ngayon pa nga lang hindi na magkasundo kung ano gusto nilang mangyari.

Obviously, Mr. De Castro is not fit for the job as president. Sincerity is not the only ingredient one has to have to become a successful leader. Aside from his limited knowledge in governance, his relationship with the lopezes whose businesses rely heavily on whoever is in power is common knowledge. And whatabout the other people he owes favor to who are just bidding their time to get their own share of the spoils when he becomes president? The country is tired of all the squabblings among politicians who are only after their personal welfare anyway. Our political system is such a mess, i cannot imagine how we can ever recover.Maybe it is time for me to accept the invitation to work abroad.
