FAQs on anti-wiretapping law

AS we have pointed out, last Monday’s televised message of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo failed to address a lot of issues and only raised more questions. While she admitted that she “had conversations with many people, including a Comelec official” and that the phone call was a “lapse in judgment,” Pres. Arroyo neither confirmed nor denied:

  • that she had a conversation with then Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano;
  • that the conversation was taped and/or wiretapped; and
  • that she either authorized or did not authorize the recording/wiretapping.

To better appreciate and hopefully address the legal issues revolving around the “Gloria-Garci” tapes, the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) has released a 15-page document containing Frequently Asked Questions on the Anti-Wiretapping Law and related issues.

For All Officers of the Court :

Let us not forget our legalities
Let us neither forget our decencies
Rage! Rage! All decent lawyers in the dying light!*
Mike not included.

For GMA :

When will GMA fade?
Oh the wild charge Mike A. made!
All the Filipino wondered.
DisHonor the charge they made,
DisHonor GMA’s Brigade,
All the things both spouses plundered. **

With all due apologies to Dylan Thomas* and Lord Alfred Tennyson**

So wiretapping is good if it is for the common good? Hah! I like that!

Hey have you heard that an anti-wiretapping case was filed against Paguia and Ong.

I think its really part of the recovery plot of Mrs. Arroyo. Kasi hindi sinama si Bunye sa kaso. He also has possession of the tapes.

Oh my.

What’s reaaly happening in our country? Behind the scandals millions of peso are flying for protection and defense.

Yup this is not good for business. Thats why we have to start watching closely and intelligently so this will not happen again! And we cannot watch intelligently if we are easily swayed by propaganda and nice sounding ideas.

One example is the tape. We all take it at face value! What are the motivations behind it? What deals were made to expose it? What parts were removed? And who made the recording? How many people were involved? We hear the tape and we all start frothing at the mouth!

Heheh! Paguia suddenly forgot the parts he cut out! Heheh! Im sure Paguia and Ong will be rewarded if Gloria is removed.
