A Jekyll-and-Hyde campaign
LAST Wednesday’s testimony of Brig. General Francisco Gudani before the Senate defense committee hearing looking into the involvement of military officials named in the "Hello, Garci" wiretapped conversations has again brought up the issue of alleged systematic electoral fraud that ensured a Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo victory in the 2004 presidential elections.
Gudani, the Marine commander in charge of the Lanao provinces in the said elections, was among eight military officials mentioned in the taped conversations. Relieved of his post as assistant superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy for appearing in the Senate without the prior approval of Arroyo, the embattled general testified, among others, that provincial election supervisor Ray Sumalipao revised plans and policies and replaced board of election inspectors weeks before the elections upon orders of Commission on Elections commissioner Virgilio Garcillano that only resulted in much confusion.
Gudani’s revelation confirms PCIJ’s findings that an informal network that included Garcillano, Comelec field personnel, the police and the military, freelance political operators and assorted businesspeople in Mindanao and elsewehere did exist alongside Arroyo’s official campaign team.
In the feature "Jekyll-and-Hyde Campaign" in the latest issue of i Report, Yvonne Chua identifies the members of this motley team of "backroom operators" and groups, like one ominously named "Special Ops" under then presidential liaison officer for political affairs Jose Ma. ‘Joey’ Rufino. The team’s functions ranged from the mundane quick-counting of votes to more questionable tasks that could have involved electoral manipulation among them.
As erstwhile Palace insiders observe, these parallel operations were not surprising given what they described as Arroyo’s "dualistic" nature, like, well, a case of "Jekyll and Hyde."

One thing’s for sure, there’s gonna be a lot of evidence against the President in the NEXT impeachment attempt. Hopefully it won’t be another one of those BOTCHED attempts that’ll lead to another no-results FIESTA REVOLUTION that Pinoys have become famous for. đ

‘Ka Roger’ commended Gudani and other personalities to topple the government. He said that,”Communist Party of the Philippines was extending its offer of possible alliance and cooperation with ‘patriotic, democratic and critical-minded officials and soldiers.'”( Inquirer)
These is not new to us. I do not preclude their hand on GMA’s demise. Same with other post Marcos era presidents like Cory, Ramos, and Erap. A well supported group financially, they can just do anything they want.
Their method of procuring money through revolutionary taxes is unacceptable. Reminds me of my businessmen friends who are being harassed to pay P5,000 a month for operating a decent business. The recent assaults on Globe cellsites and Sparing smart cellsites of the same plight is something to check into. It means Smart is paying an undesclosed big amount of their demanded revolutionary taxes. I can see already some signs that we are already on the verge of subtle transition, from overly democratized to communism spectrum. In no time, if these political-economic and social turmoil could not be addressed. PCiJ if you have time, can you please check on the veracity of revolutionary tax procurement, also? I do not want to think that we are conniving now with the communists.

After the Presidential elections, a group of us went to the campaign headquarters of GMA on Jupiter Street, Makati. We entered a room where Gabby Claudio said he monitoring the counting. I distinctly remember him saying that GMA would win by 1M votes, and in fact thought to myself “Wow they already know the results…but, I thought the Comelec didn’t approve the electronic counting machines???” It is no wonder now–for the life of me, I believed that GMA would be different and be a great leader for the Republic. If her father was a “low-life”, GMA seems to be synonymous to the word, SMUT.
It is not up to the politicians to figure out who the alternative to GMA is. That GMA MUST GO, is the BEST ALTERNATIVE. She has been asked to make the “sumpreme sacrifice” for sake of the country, and yet she says “over her dead body!” The decision then to the ALTERANTIVE is left to the people. No politician can take away what belongs to the people–The CHOICE FOR A BETTER LEADER. THE CHOICE FOR A BETTER PHILIPPINES.

So far, we have a fake election, fake impeachment, fake separation of power between congress, executive and judicial, fake 200 pesos, fake evat, etc…

Di ba this is a clear case for MENTAL INCAPACITY which under the constitution ground for removing the president. Baka puede na mag-initiate ang senate ng hearing regarding this in aid of legislation (constitution / succession) – Schizo? Mental incapacity?, Jekyll and HYde?
Medyo tama nga ang observation, kasi sabi ni GMA nuon she will not run for the election and then she will run pala. And some times GMA would issue political cease fire and political unity and concurrently launch multiple media blitz against Lacson and to other opposition. GMA said she will fight graft and corruption and yet she accomodate the likes of Singson.
Also, she said she wants our country to prosper and yet she doesn’t want to REsign.

Maybe its about time we put a strong leader like PING LACSON who will reign in all those who oppose government so we can move forward.
With PING there would be no more rallies, senate and congressional inquiries.
With PING, salvaging can be used for those who continue to oppose and wreck havoc on our economy.
I never wanted PING to be president of this country. But with the way things are now, maye HE is our only hope!

Actually, kahit sino ang pumalit kay GMA ay okey lang. Pag-hindi matino then he / she will be asked to resign or voted out. The point is as long as the next president does not perform then there should be an easy recourse to remove him.
Time will come meron leader na magtatagal sa puwesto na matino. What is not acceptable is a leader who cheats and steal and at the same time curtails the right of the filipinos to protest.

With whats happening, we need a strong leader who will PUNISH those who commit mistakes. Have them shot in the LUNETA, castrate those who steal. Make an example and i think we would be going the right track. But this will only happen with a strong leader who is BRUTAL.
Look what we did with marcos? If we had beheaded his family one by one at the luneta we would have gotten all the the wealth he stole. We could continue beheading the grandchildren if we are not still content that what he stole he has returned.
Whats happening now is those in GOVT seeing what happened before laughs at us, spits on our face and continues looting our country.
Worse, some of them are with the opposition pa.

Those serving in GOVERNMENT from President down will ONLY understand we mean serious business by putting action where our mouth is. FILE CASES against the culprits? God help us! With the exellent lawyers they can hire with the money the stole, we would be dead by the time they get imprisoned – IF they get imprisoned. And yes, we need to change our system. For so long as our politics is still MONEY POLITICS, those who win and who will spend millions will have no recourse to steal to finance the next elections or pay debts. It is a total revamp of the system. Its not as easy as putting a good person. .

Now it has become bvious why they prevented the use of the automated voting machines. Lodging an electoral protest is also useless as those election returns have been doctored or changed. To propose a Cha-Cha is also not the answer.
We now must change our electoral processes. I suppose we can have primaries where candisates fight it out on who will run for a certain position. Afterwhich, there will be regional elections to avoid cheatings as a smaller area would be easier to monitor for all candidates. This will only be for the National Elections.
Congressional, Gubernatorial, Mayorial and Barangay elections should be held at a different date from the national elections. These schedules may depend on the Provincial Electoral Board, so every province may hold their elections depending on their own schedule.
Lastly, aside from the impeachment process, all elected may be removed through recall elections or a vote of no confidence. This will ensure that all elected officials will work hard for their constituents.
This are very simple solutions, I just wonder why no one in government, if they truely want to serve the country have failed to make a dturdy on these.

anyways, how can we change overnight kaya the culture of a country who has been in existence in modern history for 500 years or so?
back to the schizo Gloria topic. im seeing the all the positive things that we have acquired so far out of Gloria being still in Malacanang after all these scandals and controversies :
1) it shows us that how one power hungry & greedy leader can truly ruin a nation. next time, we would not allow our deposed leaders to be just exiled in a tropical island paradise or be detained in a posh villa in tanay. a stricter, more formidable punishment, even death, should be enforced.
2) even in the absence of an impeachment proceeding, these senate investigations has unravelled how dirty political machineries work during elections, how our hard earned taxmonies are being allocated to very costly contracts with foreign lobby groups and PR firms and how government officials can just act sick and escape accountability.
3) it has displayed how public officials can be bought, can be really tricky, irresponsible and stupid
4) that the church as our moral shepperd is just an illusion
5) our constitution needs to be ammended. it has protected one greedy leader in the person of gloria and its human rights provisions can easily be violated with a single executive order
6) it has proven that we need real C-H-A-N-G-E. unseating of another president is not enough, we need to eradicate all systems that has failed and all the people that has been associated with these fiascos
The truth is a bitter pill to swallow but let us learn from history.

The GMA camp will throw in everything–incuding the kitchen sink to CONFUSE AND DIVIDE all of us. Remember that the strategy of the GMA camp is clear: confude-divide-conquer. From what I know, anything and anyone who divides and confuses, belongs to that which is EVIL. God unites. He does not confuse or divide. We must focus on that which is good. All of this boils down to a choice: GOOD vs. EVIL. The path of the the good is the road less traveled, but it is there we will find hope.

âthe strange case of dr. jekyll and mr. hydeâ is a very good analogy to our present situation wherein the concept of the inner conflict of humanityâs sense of good and evil exist. a mere potion or drug concocted by scientist jekyll enabled him to transform into the monster hyde. eventually, however, with repeated transformations jekyll can already change to hyde even without the potion, and vice-versa. he was later on doomed to assume hydeâs identity permanently as he ran out of the needed ingredient for the drug to become effective.
it’s the same with âjekyll-hydeâ gloria. i believe she ran out of goodness in her to assume back to her saintly self. either it is of her own choosing or it is her drunkenness to power that made her into âhyde.â such a terrible outcome.
the murder plots are certainly ridiculous in our âtelenovela.â but the murder of good by evil is a realityâŠas personified in gloria.

Exactly what they’re trying to do now with the Drilon-Cory plot to oust gloria smear campaign. That way, the opposition, the civil societies, the leftists, and the general public as a whole will feel alienated with the current Senate hearings that are exposing the election cheatings, northrail project and the venable contracts.

The latest accusation by Miriam Santiago is another work of Malacanan spin doctors to discredit both Tita Cory and Drillon through her. Mouthpiece lang nila ang “Queen of Weirdness”. It’s very obvious naman. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist or a Rhodes Scholar to see through it. Miriam’s proof of such accusations is supposed to be someone who heard a relative of Drillon “chattering” about it. Duh. This is nothing but hearsay – pure hearsay.
Sa mga naglalabasang baho ngayon ng pekeng administrasyong Arroyo tulad ng Hello-Garci, Venable Contract, North Rail Contract which I believe is just the tip of the iceberg, kinakailangan talagang mag-create ng ganitong nonsense na paratang ang paranoid na si Gloria at ang mga alipores nito para ma-confuse ang mga mamamayang pilipino sa tunay na issues. This is just another diversionary tactic by the bogus Arroyo administration. Gloria is fighting for her survival here, so anything goes. Kahit na isang “chiz-miss” pinatulan. My take on this is that Miriam’s accusations are simply to forward and formalize a supposed threat of imminent danger to the president’s safety, thus justifying the unconstitutional calibrated preemptive response.
More civil liberties will be sacrificed just to save the Queen by the Pasig. Those who usually gather around the mini-dictator in her sorties better watch out for they may be shot point blank for no apparent reason except that they may be Drilon’s hired guns. That is the only calibrated preemptive response to an assassination, they may reason.
Or even those of us in these blogs may be arrested as suspected assassins of the Cheat Executhief or their accessories for posting support for Drilon and Cory. Coming from Miriam, it did not surprise me that the other clowns Bunye, Tiglao, Defensor, Seludo, Ermita, had to step aside for the Circus Ringmistress. The Ballistic Lunatic delivered the new chaff missile (a missile fired by a fighter plane to attract and distract enemy heat-seeking missiles) in support of the midget at the same time, releasing her own Mavericks at targets Drilon and Cory.
Calling Mandaluyong’s NMH…Aba! Kumilos naman kayo, hulihin na itong mga nagkalat na flip at praning sa Malacañang.

At least the opposition is sticking to facts and issues. This government, instead of meeting its critics head on, has hidden behind technicalities and chismis. The administration is now in a state of paranoia and will not hesitate to use any means to cling to power.

bangus, masyado naman brutal ang gusto mo. pag nagkaganun baka hindi kakayanin ng sikmura ko, hindi ko nalang panonoorin yan sa TV. but i agree with you, kailangan na ng kamay na bakal siguro sa mga nangungurakot sa gov’t. It maybe harsh pero sa tingin ko kailangan na eh. pero wag naman yang paraan na sinasabi mo. i don’t know kung anong punishment, basta yung magtatanda na at matatakot na yung iba pang nasa gov’t. and also those involved in organized crimes. kailangan na talaga ng isang lider na may political will. masagasaan na ang masagasaan, magalit na ang magalit, kahit simbahan pa ang magalit basta madisiplina lang ang mga gumagawa ng kalokohan. yung lider na hindi uurong sa iuutos, hindi naiintimidate ng mga rally. basta alam niyang makakapagbigay ng disiplina ulit sa mga pilipino itutuloy at ipapatupad ang mga inuutos. pero kailangan pa rin ng check and balance para hindi naman malabag ang human rights ng bawat isa.

i have a suggestion. maybe if anyone is caught cheating or committing graft, we should ban them, even all their relatives up to the 3rd degree of affinity, and all their predecessors up to the 14th generation from running and serving in public office. probably magiging lesson yan sa lahat ng balak magnakaw at gumawa ng katiwalian sa gobyerno.

General Senga, are you loyal to the constitution or to Gloria? Iyong ba ang kapalit ng promotion niyo? Why did you order General Gudani not to attend the senate hearing? May itinatago ba kayo? Were you trying to cover up the truth? What was your legal reason to order the military personnel from attending a senate inquiry? Isn’t it that the effectivity date of 464 is 15 days after it was published in a major newspaper? Have you already initiated an investigation against those officers that were implicated in the Garci tape? You said “leave the military out of politics”, yet your actions is full of politics. Are you the exemption to the rule?

Pong Biazon should call Butch Paquingan of Cagayan de Oro. He could be the link between the “election black ops” here in Mindanao. He will be able to link Malacanang to the black ops, thru Bert Romulo. He admited knowing Zuce and Garcillano. In fact i saw the Blue 2 door pajero park in there house during the election. Bert Romulo had given him a white tamaraw fx (dati may seal pa nang senate).
