Edsa 20/20: Fidel V. Ramos

‘The people are tired of constant political bickering’

ramos.jpgA cousin of Ferdinand Marcos, Maj. Gen. Fidel V. Ramos withdrew his loyalty from the besieged president and joined the rebels at Camp Aguinaldo on February 22, 1986. His defection turned the tide in favor of the rebellion and deprived Marcos of loyal troops. Ramos’s pivotal role in Edsa and his defense of the Aquino government against military rebels catapulted him to the presidency in 1992. He remains an outspoken critic of the governments that succeeded his and continues to be an influential force in Philippine political life.

Ellen Tordesillas interviews FVR in this podcast.

Whatever his critics may say about him, and however they may want to say it, I personally commend FVR for being particular about our national pride–something that is hard to come by, these days. It is a good thing to be reminded every now and then of what we should value as people of this Republic.

The light of EDSA should not be ignored by any generation. The HOPE that EDSA etched in the heart of the Philippines should be the driving force to make this country better; it is an inspiration for all.

The brillance of the Philippines shines as a light of HOPE for the world to see.

Sige nga? Let’s see you do it. Let’s see you assemble a force to do what you are mouthing out here along with others who presume to call for peoples’ heads to be served to them on a silver platter.

Hirap sa atin e panay ganitong klaseng pagbubunganga ang inaatupag pero padg-dating sa pag-IISIP e inaatake ng tamaditis.

As observed by a noted Filipino and quoted in this week’s issue of *Time* Magazine (featuring a commemoration article on the Edsa “Revolution”): “Filipinos are an unreflective people”.

Pinoy nga naman talaga. 😀

If FVR had not come to the rescue, then our problem GMA would have been history. Now, I think he regrets that DAY, because he has created a monster that even he cannot control. He created the GLORIA-frankenstein that is wrecking the democracy & freedom that EDSA People Power1 fought for!!!!
He must be hanged or led to a firing squad!!! TRAITOR!!
