The Martyrs of Maguindanao

Our latest report, “The 30 Media Martyrs of Maguindanao,” comes from the Fact-Finding Mission of the Freedom Fund for Filipino Journalists (FFFJ), a coalition of six media organizations that is leading the effort to campaign against media killings, and to pursue the prosecution of cases.

The Mission was dispatched to Mindanao last week to extend assistance to the victims, witnesses, and their families, as well as to conduct an independent documentation. The Mission’s full report will be released this week.

The FFFJ team was composed of journalists from the PCIJ, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, and Mindanews, in coordination with the FFFJ secretariat, the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility, Free Legal Assistance Group, and Commission on Human Rights consultant, Dr Raquel Fortun.
