The Ampatuan mansions,
minions, and millions

Maguindanao is the country’s third poorest province, yet its leaders roll in scandalous wealth. The Ampatuans left a trail of magnificent mansions, rising from the squalor in the poblacion of their capital town in Shariff Aguak, or “hidden” among other large houses in their “second home” of sorts, Davao City.

With the help of Mindanews, the PCIJ tracked down just some of these mansions spread out from Central Mindanao to Eastern Mindanao.
