JUST ONE DAY AFTER declaring that they were terminating their presentation and resting their case, prosecutors in the impeachment case against Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona now say they may still present Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno – if she agrees.

Lead prosecutor Niel Tupas told the court that the prosecution team had hand-delivered a letter to the office of Justice Sereno, asking her to appear before the impeachment court tomorrow, Thursday, March 1, 2012.

Presiding Officer Juan Ponce Enrile balked at Tupas’ statement, and pointed out that prosecutors had already declared yesterday that it had finished presenting its evidence and was withdrawing five of the eight articles contained in the articles of impeachment against Corona.
