DEFENSE LAWYERS of impeached Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona presented the Quezon City Register of Deeds in an attempt to prove that several properties not listed by Corona in his SALN had been sold previously to other people.

The defense presented QC acting Register of Deeds Carlo Alcantara to the impeachment court to submit documents to show that properties earlier owned by the Coronas in La Vista subdivision and Ayala Heights subdivision had already been transferred to the names of other people by 2010.

Defense lawyer Dennis Manalo said they were presenting Alcantara to the court to lay the basis for the non-inclusion of these properties in Corona’s SALNs.

Alcantara presented copies of the cancelled land titles, the transfer certificates of titles, and the deeds of absolute sale to the impeachment court.

Alcantara said that the Ayala Heights property was sold to Rodel and Amelia Rivera in March 2010. The La Vista property, on the other hand, was transferred to Corona’s daughter Carla Corona-Castillo in October 2010.
