DATA A DAY:
Independence or Dependence Day
INDEPENDENCE DAY, June 12, is that day we proudly say we have started charting our own future as a nation.
But was Independence Day always on June 12?
For today’s Data a Day, PCIJ’s MoneyPolitics asks that question: When were we really independent? When we declared it ourselves, or when someone else declared it for us?
True or False: Independence Day has always been observed on June 12.
We hope you all know the answer. For those uncertain, check out the answer in our MoneyPolitics database website here. Or, ask your grade schooler. He would probably know.
