THOSE WHO regularly await the President’s State of the Nation Address (politicians, activists, CSOs, journalists) have a pretty good idea when the SONA takes place every year. But time and again, we hear regular citizens ask: When does the President hold his or her SONA? How come the date changes every year?

That’s because the date of the SONA is not fixed, not like Christmas or Valentines Day. Rather, it’s a little bit like Holy Week, where you count off the weeks from a certain calendar.

So for today’s Data a Day:

On which day of the year is the State of the Nation Address held?

Again, you may want to check out the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism’s MoneyPolitics website for the answer, or go straight to this link to check it out right now.
