Mike Defensor’s expert

The 20-day TRO issued by the Quezon City RTC on this blog has expired. We are reposting it.

WHEN Sec. Mike Defensor introduced his audio expert, Jonathan Tiongco, to the media this morning, he took pains emphasizing that it was Tiongco who had vehemently opposed the appointment of Angelo Reyes to the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

By pointing this out, Defensor wanted it known that no one could accuse Tiongco of being a mercenary; the guy had, in fact, objected to a key Cabinet appointment made by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and he is credible. He is a sound engineer schooled in Japan with some 12 years of experience in digital audio engineering.

But a dossier from the Philippine National Police (PNP) shows Tiongco has a checkered past as it lists a string of criminal cases against him, ranging from grave threats to murder.

And for anti-crime advocate Tessie Ang-See, Tiongco’s credibility is suspect. Ang-See told PCIJ that in March 2004, Tiongco approached her to ask for her support in the cases against Reyes, who was then anti-kidnapping czar. Reyes was the subject of criminal and administrative cases filed in the Ombudsman for, among others, illegal detention, multiple murder, kidnapping, and grave coercion. These charges stemmed from the kidnappings in late 2003 of two Chinese-Filipinos: two-year-old Gian Jethro Chua and corporate executive Betty Chua Sy.

To convince her, Ang-See said, Tiongco showed a photograph of Gian Jethro’s kidnapper who he claimed was a close-in bodyguard of Reyes. He also gave her a video of the crime scene where a bank robber was killed, alleging that it was a rubout and that Reyes had a hand in it.  The purpose, Ang See said, was to show Reyes’s alleged involvement in kidnapping and robbery cases.

But when Ang-See had these independently examined, she was told that these were altered. Ang-See said no to Tiongco’s request for her to support the cases against Reyes.

After she refused, Ang-See said, Tiongco began sending her threats through SMS. This was also the time, according to Ang-See, when she was included as one of the respondents in the supplemental case filed against Reyes regarding the case of kidnap victim Sy. (That case has since been dismissed.)

Early this year, when the Commission on Appointments was deliberating on Reyes’s DILG appointment, some members of the body also expressed doubts about Tiongco’s credibility. Sen. Dick Gordon said the CA had gathered documents showing Tiongco’s string of criminal cases and his opposition to Reyes’s appointment should simply be thrown out.

According to the PNP dossier, Jonathan Mallorca Tiongco, 35, had 11 criminal cases either pending in or resolved by various courts in Iloilo, Pampanga, and different cities in Metro Manila as of 2003. The cases include murder and frustrated murder, homicide, illegal possession of firearm, carnapping, grave threat, and estafa.

Six of the cases were dismissed by the courts either for lack of interest on the part of the complainants or after Tiongco secured a settlement. He was acquitted in one case; one case was archived after police failed to locate Tiongco. As of 2003, three cases were still being heard.

Tiongco was born in Jaro, Iloilo and has known addresses in Fairview, Quezon City and San Fernando, Pampanga. He has four children, two each with his two spouses. The police know him to have several aliases: Jaytee, JT, Jeff, Jonathan Monarca Tiongco, and John Thomas Mendoza Tiongco.

The following is the PNP’s summary of Tiongco’s criminal cases:

1. Homicide, Pasay City, 1997. Tiongco was accused of shooting a barangay tanod who had responded to an altercation between the suspect and another man.
Status: Ongoing trial.

2. Multiple attempted murder, Iloilo City, 1996. Tiongco was charged with shooting three men. Police say one of the three men was a barangay captain who had interceded on behalf of a family with whom Tiongco’s own family were involved in a land dispute.
Status: Ongoing trial.

3. Murder, three counts, and frustrated murder, Iloilo City, 1994. Tiongco and his co-accused were charged with shooting four individuals, killing three of them. He was finally arrested in 2002.
Status: Tiongco was acquitted.

4. Violation of R.A. 6539 (Anti-carnapping Law), Angeles City, Pampanga, 2001. Tiongco and two companions were apprehended by city police while in possession of a car not registered in any of their names. A month earlier the theft was reported to the police.
Status: Dismissed.

5. Violation of the gun ban provisions of the Omnibus Election Code, San Fernando, Pampanga, 2001. Tiongco was arrested after brandishing a handgun in an altercation with the complainant while the gun ban was in force during the election period.
Status: Ongoing trial.

6. Violation of PD 1866 (Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition), San Fernando, Pampanga, 2001. This charge stemmed from the same incident described in #5, for which he was sued for violating the election gun ban.
Status: Dismissed.

7. Grave threat, San Fernando, Pampanga, 2001. This charge involved the same incident in #5.
Status: Settled, then dismissed.

8. Violation of PD 1866 (Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition), Iloilo City. The dossier does not have details of this case.
Status: Dismissed.

9. Grave threat, Pasay City, 1997. This involved the same incident in #1.
Status: Dimissed.

10. Violation of BP 22 (Bouncing checks law), San Juan, Metro Manila, 1992.
Status: Archived after Tiongco was not found by the police.

11. Swindling/Estafa, Makati City, 1993. Tiongco was accused of failing to remit some P54,800 in company funds.
Status: Settled, then dismissed.

I think today’s event backfired on Mike. Resurrecting the hello garci tape is not to their best interest. Having a tainted witness does not help.

Thank you, mIke for bringing back to life the Garci tape issue. At least, you are providing us with inspiration so we wouldn’t give up. The background of this expert dwarfs the crimes of Zuce.

Nice try Mike.

The Tribune’s Herman Tiu Laurel, in his 6 pm radio program, alluded to Tiongco as a double agent for the Administration. He is said to be frequenting Opposition gatherings, posing as one of their allies but is in fact, gathering intelligence for the Administration.

Wilfredo “Boy” Mayor confirmed in tonight’s newscast that it was Jonathan Tiongco who tried to convince him that since the Administration will be coming up this week with its so-called, “evidence” that the “Hello, Garci” tapes are fake, he should already switch sides.

To PCIJ and other bloggers: This is an off topic. Would appreciate any comments on the mini documentary re sickening cases of children in adult prisons aired in CNN few days ago, that is, if you’ve seen it. Thanks.

From Ellen Tordesillas “Operation Balik-Loob” article:

Mayor said he received a text message saying next week that a report from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation will be made public showing that the “Hello Garci” tapes are fake. The message asked, “Ano ang mangyayari sa iyo?” (What will happen to you?)

Wow… so much fire power coming from Malacanan, ey? Mind you they have the money, courtesy of Pagcor and the president’s fund.

Atleast, Zuce is an expert in electoral fraud and that’s where he is testifying. As compared to Tingco’s alleged audio/video manipulation capabilities – is he a credible person to authenticate the tapes?

Mikey, hey hey hey… if you still want to be known as a champion in philippine politics better be careful who your siding to – the truth? Arroyo? Its better to be just a plain stateman that a crony… when all things over you will be judged accordingly.

At that time can you still cheat your way to congress? without Garci?

tiongco is a fake, and so is defensor a liar,i know them both, tiongco one time went to me and want to pawn a car,i check the registration and while inspecting the car,i saw the calling card of the owner and called him,he was surprised because he just lend it to tiongco for errand.
defensor i know him when he was not yet a councillor in 3rd district of qc.when he became a councillor, congressman, and became the hachet man of GMA (mahusay retraction on pidal)he brag to us his asset, car`s,properties and cash that was given to him by FG(pidal) and GMA.and he also brag that FG is pidal and the relationship of FG to Vicky Toh.
he brag how FG gamble and lost in vegas, pati un relasyon ni nani perez ke GMA,sa kanya din namin narinig.

if malacanang sincerely wants to put an end to the issue of authenticity of the hello garci tapes they would seek the expert opinion of scotland yard or the fbi. it has the means to do so. instead it resorts to a tainted witness. kahon!…or laban (whichever generation you’re from).

Dapat tanggaling ni GMA iyong adviser niya. First the Bunye tape, then the Chavit’s tape at ngayon naman ay kay Defensor. Before issuing a dare to the opposition or on behalf of GMA, he should first ask GMA’s support before doing so. Remember that he backed out when the young guns of the congress like Allan Cayetano, Mitra and etal accepted his challenge. Now, Senator Lacson is daring him and GMA that he will apologize to GMA if the original tape is proven to have been spliced but that GMA should resign if it’s proven to be unalterred.

Let’s wait for Defensor’s move. My bet is that he will back down. The tape that he presented is irrelevant because that particular tape could have been alterred before they sent it to expert. I believe the congress have in their possesion.

I played the portion of the mp3 files on windows media player and slowed it down, there you can in fact hear very cleary Gloria was telling Garci “YUNG DAGDAG, YUNG DAGDAG”.

Wait! Everyone… Can I hear Miriam Defensor-Santiago in defense of nephew Mike “the defender” Defensor? (masyado nang redundant yung defens…teka…) Let hear what she has to say. After lambasting Zuce’s person what does she have in store for this Malacañang operative named Tiongco who, by any measure, is way beyond Zuce’s league, in a negative way. Judging from Tiongco’s cases listed above, this only reflects the kind of company that our leaders keep.

Mike D. spent a whole month in seclusion planning for this major counter-strike which to him would deliver the fatal blow to his critics who got the upper hand when Malacañang disowned Mike D’s resignation challenge to the opposition congressmen. The congressmen earlier this afternoon reiterated their acceptance and even stepped up the ante (Lacson included) if GMA will sign the wager that they already signed themselves. What will Malacañang and Mike D do? Of course Mike will cowardly duck into this shithole he dug for himself and Malacañang (again!) will disown Mike’s initiatives.

What a waste, di ba Mike?

Remember the Padi’s Point incident?

The opposition had Zuce who is really fat. Defensor had his fat expert but he was not as large Zuce so I immediately concluded that whatever Defensor’s man had to say didn’t carry as much weight as Zuce.

But these fat witnesses and experts are starting to piss me off and costing me quite a bit of money. A few days ago I had to trade in my 21 inch TV for a 60 inch flat screen just so I could see Zuce and Zamora together. I thought I could get by with a small screen all throughout Gloria’s term.

I watched the SONA on my little TV. It reminded me of two of my favorite movies, Star Wars and Austin Powers. There was Gloria, Minime from Austin Powers flanked by Yoda and Jabba da Hut from Star Wars. Philippine politics is really ugly.

Now Miriam Defensor wants to become Senate President. Remember the old saying, “too many cooks spoil the broth?” Well Miriam is one kook to many as far as I’m concerned.

But going back to Defensor’s experts. They don’t look right. I know one shouldn’t judge based on appearances but then again if something looks like shit one doesn’t have to stick a finger into it and smell it and taste it just to make sure, right? One simply avoids stepping on it, shit or not because it’s one of those things where it is better to err on the side of judging based on appearances.

So did Gloria do something wrong on the Garci tapes, was it her voice and she talking? Well. based on appearances, it is and so she must resign because we don’t want to walk around with shit on our shoes do we?

Jonathan Tiongco reminds me of Sandra Cam, the opposition’s witness. She also has a list of criminal cases against her yet some people actually believe her. I’m also wondering why Ping Lacson, the most aggressive oppositionist, seems to have a lot of followers despite his shady and dubious past. Why does it take us so long for us to resolve issues on the elections which happened two years ago? Why are Filipinos so obsessed with listening to griping politicians and not to ideas on improving their lives?

The tapes are back again. Where is Garci, by the way?

I heared the tapes, and I have a question:

Bakit ang tapes ay lumabas only a year after the elections? And not in June 2004? Palagay ko…because the election was fresh pa , and cheating was difficult to prove at that time.

Cut….. then five words again….cut. If the pro and anti Arroyo groups really want to tell/show the truth, why dont they search and air the FULL CONVERSATION para naman hindi selected parts lang (putol putol ) ang naririnig ng taong bayan. Bakit putol putol?

Palagay ko…people were needed to be conditioned first to believe that there was cheating, and when the stage was set…a chopped conversation was released that would led to such a conclusion….not directly…but enough for people to be misled to such a conclusion.

Palagay ko..a conversation can be chopped in so many ways so as to mean many things. Depende sa agenda and desired message ng chopper.

Kaya….ako….to be convinced, I want to hear the full conversation first, with authentication that it was GMAs voice, before I jumped to conclusions.

don2x of Pinoyexchange sure does sound a lot like Jonathan Tiangco… Read don2x’s posts below, then Tiangco’s statement during Mike Defensor’s Presscon and tell me what you think.

From the LAFI thread “Mainstream Media STILL won’t play Gloriagate tapes”

Post 1:

what was the result of lacson authentication of the recordings? even the FBI signal analysis branch has admitted that it is difficult to detect some alterations when a recording is digitized into a computer system, physically or electronically edited. to authenticate, the original recording and the equipment/ components used to produce the recording must be provided. no wonder wycoco tried to cover the existence of gsm scanner during the hearings.

Post 2:

someone can digitally edit/ cut n paste voiceprints of gma and garci then re-record it to an analog tape recorder. it is very difficult to detect alteration on the re-recorded tape. it is like a xerox copy of an altered document. difficult to detect the alteration in the original. it would be credible if originality and content can be authenticated with forensic audio analysis. however the equipment/ components used in the recording must be present.

Post 3:

media and the opposition know that the cd/tape cannot be authenticated unless the one who made the original recording comes forward with all the gadgets used during the recording. best they could do is get expert’s opinion which is not conclusive.

Post 4:

if they are not authenticated by credible forensic audio experts, then it is just like a xerox copy which is not conclusive. to authenticate, the equipment and components used in the recording must be present. i just assumed the recordings were just been given expert’s opinion. perhaps they should release the audio analysis report.

And finally here’s Mike defensor’s expert, Jonathan Tiangco, during the press conference:

Take the report prepared by his “expert,” Jonathan Tiongco. It sounds impressive enough with spectrographs and what not. But what does it say in the concluding paragraph, “Expert opinion/recommendation”?

“The recording are undeniably products of a series of wiretapped materials from most probably a landline or combination of landline and cellular. The authenticity of the alleged “Wiretapped Tapes” as material evidence may only be determined when; (1) the original tapes are examined; (2) matched to the recorder used; (3) the owner or operator of the tape recorder identified and (4) his/her “capacity to wiretap” verified. After submission of the alleged original tapes by Atty. Allan Paguia. which already contained labels indicating the time, date and other content details, it is therefore concluded that the tapes submitted, having been the product of review and overdubbed for labeling, are not the original first generation copies, if indeed there is any (underscoring in the original).”

Paguia has already told the House inquiry that his tape was a compilation of selected conversations from a much longer tape. What was the point of Defensor’s “expert” belaboring what is already on record?

What is more intriguing is that reference to the conditions (numbered 1 to 4) that must be fulfilled for the tapes to be considered material evidence.

Jim Sarthou, one of the local experts tapped by Jonathan Tiongco, disavows any knowledge of the analysis presented by the environment secretary yesterday in Sulo Hotel.

In today’s edition of Dateline Philippines over at ANC, Sarthou clarified that he was merely contacted by Tiongco yesterday morning for a meeting to discuss a possible technical study of the tapes’ audio tracks at a future time. He did not know that he was already being led into a press conference, whereby it will be made to appear that he’s a party to the presentation that was about to be made.

Obviously feeling duped, Sarthou said that he resents Tiongco’s ploy and wants to have absolutely nothing to do with it henceforth. He also denies ever having appraoched Lacson and said that he likewise doesn’t want to get involved with any efforts of the latter’s camp.

When asked about his expert opinion on the tapes, he refuted Tiongco’s theory on the Binalbag->Dagdag morphing and said that it was very clear to him (after some careful study of his own) that the words uttered were the real deal.

Interestingly, Mike Defensor, who joined Sarthou belatedly in the same program, also showed some signs of disavowal.

For starters, he now attributes fully to Tiongco the theory about the Binalbag to Dagdag splice, which he yesterday claimed was his.

Furthermore, he now claims that he was approached by Tiongco, who was already armed with a technical study of the tapes, and that everything – from enlisting Barry Dickey to the specific persons to make up the pool of local experts to downloading the PCIJ tracks – was all Tiongco’s idea.

Then, as an answer to Rep. Cayetano’s call for him and his principal to resign once the tapes are deemed genuine by a foreign expert, and in a seeming turnaround, Defensor says that he is no longer interested in the challenge but instead urges his adversaries to pursue their efforts toward authentication “in the spirit of cooperation.”

Toward the end of the interview, both Sarthou and Defensor echoed each other’s belief that all versions of the tapes, including Ong’s master copy, are not originals, simply on the basis of the presence of annotations.

To PCIJ and other bloggers: This is an off topic. Would appreciate any comments on the mini documentary re sickening cases of children in adult prisons aired in CNN few days ago, that is, if you’ve seen it. Thanks.

=========

The PCIJ wrote about children in conflict with the law in the 3rd quarter 2001 issue of our i magazine. That piece, written by Luz Rimban, described the increasing number of youth offenders in the country and the lack of rehabilitative mechanisms being made available to them by the juvenile justice system. In fact, the current justice system imposes such harsh punishments that are highly disproportionate to the crime and, in some cases, children are punished as soon as they are arrested. (Unfortunately, Luz’s piece is not online.)

The penal system is so weak, in general, and its weaknesses harm youth offenders the most. For instance, because the penal system is hardly equipped to take in adult offenders, youths end up in city jails with the most hardened of criminals. This was exactly what Justice Sec. Raul Gonzalez was telling the CNN reporter. But what Sec. Gonzalez couldn’t seem to answer coherently was why the government was not treating this matter as a priority. Comes now news reports quoting the President as having given orders to the DOJ “to look into these cases of minors in prison that have come out in international television.”

But, as Luz’s piece said, landing in adult jails is not the only problem for juvenile offenders. They languish in jail longer than they are supposed to because their cases take too long to be resolved; and, while in jail, say child rights activists, they do not get the kind of restorative justice befitting young people who should still be given a chance to grow up as responsible and law-abiding adults.

The Ateneo Human Rights Center and the Children and Youth Foundation of the Philippines are two groups that do research on and work with juvenile offenders.

August 14th, 2005 at 12:08 am

[…] Defensor cited the analysis done by a renowned American forensic sound expert, Barry Dickey, on the materials — two tracks of audio recordings from the Paguia tape — he submitted which was based on the audio examination done by Jonathan Tiongco. Defensor, who has contracted Tiongco with the help of a friend in the media for his “technical expertise,” described him as a “veteran audio/voice technician steeped in the process of sound and voice recording.” (Tiongco’s background and credentials are however suspect. See our next post.) […]

Regarding Jim Sarthou, the caucasian-looking “audio expert” in Mike D’s presscon, this guy is very much Pinoy. I remember him during my teenage days as a member of an indie band named Aunt Irma I still remember the song “When I’m feeling lonely” aired exclusively by Ramon Jacinto’s defunct AM radio station DZRJ. (RJ! Yung X-tapes! Baka…)

I guess he became an “audio expert” by hanging around recording studios and by tinkering with RJ’s radio/studio equipment in Sta. Mesa when his group disbanded. I didn’t know you can get an engineering degree that way. But if he is really an engineer, then sorry Jim.

Ditto for Tiongco, with his vague credentials and shadowy past (and present?), he “earned” his engineering degree by being a DJ.

I myself was once a rock band member like Sarthou, and I also tinkered with a lot of audio equipment in the then famous Cinema Audio and Magnatech Omni of old. We were also one of the pioneers of the Mobile Disco and spun thousands of discs (like Tiongco did) for about 10 years. But I can never claim to be a sound engineer or sound expert. But…

Remember the “spikes” that Tiongco stressed was conveniently located in between Garci and GMA’s voices which he explains were there because the person who spliced the tape made a delayed overlap. Based on experience, this can easily be recreated at home with just the basic equipment.

Play the “Hello Garci Tape – GMA and Garci part, and use a microphone to record the output from your speakers into a computer or tape recorder.

At the instant where Garci stops and just before GMA begins to speak, switch on a fluorescent lamp, and Presto! A spike has been created. The spike was induced by common mode/harmonic noise due to the electrical spark between the switch contact points just before full connection (Have you ever notice the switch sparking when you turn on the lights?}.

That noise is carried by the power cables all troughout your house and into your recorder and the player. This won’t work however, if you use a PC with grounded plugs (3-prong). In some instances, the switching may even produce a background hum in your recording (Remember the hum Tiongco’s presentation?).

you should listen to the garbled part before the “yung dagdag”.
if you use defensor’s style of reducing the speed of playback. you
will hear pgma’s line na translated as ‘garbled’ by pcij:

it starts with a call from pgma where from the tone of her voice
she is kind of worried that the opposition is trying to get namfrel
copies of the municipal COCs

GARCI: ay ok naman ang namfrel sa atin, they are sympathetic to us
GMA: OO OO PERO HUWAG NIYO SIYANG IMENTION NA NAMFREL DOESNT TALLY
GARCI: oho
GMA: pero yun nga yung dagdag yung dagdag

she is worried baka kasi makita ng opposition na hindi nagtatally yung
mga namfrel copies with the other COMELEC copies
GMA knows about the hocus-pocus performed sa dagdagbawas
and she has to make sure na makakalusot yon

Sa report ni Ms Yvone dito

http://www.pcij.org/blog/?p=137
http://www.pcij.org/blog/?p=140

“A copy of the COC that Namfrel obtained of the voting in Poona Bayabao
(it gets the fourth copy) shows President Arroyo and Legarda leading
their opponents 4,700 to zero. But the ERs that the poll monitor was
furnished (Namfrel gets the sixth copy) reveal a big discrepancy: Neither
Poe nor De Castro obtained zero votes. In two tables prepared later by
the Namfrel chapter summarizing the ERs in 13 precincts in Poona Bayabao,
Poe got 767 and Arroyo 964, while Legarda obtained 1,252 and De Castro, 350.”

pcij people,

now that the tro’s expired (coool ha ha), plus the events that have happened since then (like garcillano back, for instance), what next for this thread?

congratulations on the SC decision, by the way.

tongue in, anew,

saw your explanation on how to create a large spike in the waveform of a sound recording. exactly right… my colleagues and i had been discussing that during that time. as a matter of fact, that’s part of the way morse code and radio evolved in the old old old days, using sparks caused by on/off switches. as to splices, if you gang an oscilloscope and a spectrum analyzer to take apart a waveform, if there’s a splice, you’ll see it, a split that doesn’t belong there, and it doesn’t look like a spike at all, no sir. to put it simply, a spike is just one very sharp continuous upward then downward curve, while in a splice you don’t see continuity (the splices can be seen where the waveforms are disjointed). lest anyone tell us that you can’t isolate single-line curves (sine waves and such) from a waveform as complex as voice recording, our answer is “go to school, study fourier transforms, study oscilloscopes, study spectrum analyzers, ace each class, then tell us after if you still can’t — we’d be happy to show you how it’s done.”

we concluded that tiongco isn’t really a sound engineer… else, he’d have known this from wireless and acoustics subjects ECEs have in their curricula.

though it may be convincing to the average reasonable person that a computer screen capture of a waveform shows splicing (not to us engineers, obviously), why not have it authenticated by real experts using real equipment? assuming, naturally, that these people are credible and impartial.

Sorry for the long absence.

Been busy doing “normal” stuff, like recording albums with Richard Merk and Florante and others (confidential pa…)

Anyway.

Garcillano should keep his mouth shut for several reasons.

Mainly, because since he finally spoke, I recognized his voice which I alreday know so well as being the one in the “Hello” tapes.

But more importantly, he should stick to his area of expertise, which is being a COMELEC official.

And NOT an Audio Expert.

Who is HE to say that the tapes were spliced?

In the same way, who am I to say he rigged the elections?

I’m just a Sound man.

PLEASE GET CONGRESSMAN JOSE MARIE GONZALES AND ENOUGH
OF THIS GUY SARTHOU… HE APPEARS TO BE A CHEAP LIAR!
AND EDITOR OF CHAVIT’S X-TAPES!!!

Ang sabi niya: “I WAS JUTS RECENTLY CONTRACTED. I heard it, I heard it… All this versions are the same. The voice before that one… its spliced.” He also said: “I’m worried because there are annotations… then its not the original tape.”

When he was interviewed with Mike Defensor the next day, ang sabi niya “di niya raw alam na Presscon?”

E diba ang sabi niya “i was just recently contracted?” Ok na sana. Pero during the same ANC interview, sinabi niya rin na: “THIS IS A USELESS EXCERSIZE. ALL THIS VERSIONS ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL VERSIONS BECAUSE THERE ARE ANNOTATIONS.”

Now he says: THE TAPES ARE AUTHENTIC? With people like this guy SARTHOU, the battle for hearts and minds will lose. Since he was contracted, the assumption now is, he was re-contracted to turn around. Another blogger also revealed he used to work for RJ. This guy is surely a witness for sale.

THE BEST OPTION IS A PERSON WITH UNTARNISHED CREDIBILITY.
I’m talking about former Congressman Jose Marie Gonzales, becaue
he’s too rich, he owns his Studio and he’s not gonna annalyze the tapes for money.

I hope this time, Ex-Congressman Jose Marie Gonzales can be called

Im only worried that if the CCTA keeps on presenting people like Sarthou whose inconsistent, or someone who does it because he’s been contracted several times over, PGMA and GARCI would end up winning the technical aspect of the scandal. If admin people play Sarthou’s videos when he testifies… that would be very devastating for the CCTA.

Maybe we could get other low profile veteran sound engineers. Or a panel of (5) or so to be more efficicent. Having the recordings authenticated abroad by engineers who cant speak our language would also be inaccurate. So the best option is to go local.

I’m quite surprised why you made an issue out of Jonathan Tiongco.
I know him personally. In December 2003, 6 people were massacred
by the WPD-ANCAR, NCRPO and NAKTF in San Andres, Manila. My cousin Jing Lopez was one of those killed. During the time, only Mr. Tiongco came to help us. The incident was worst than the Ortigas incident. My cousin was kidnapped and his toyota fx carjacked by NAKTF a week earlier, on December 3, 2003, Police parked (2) cars, a hyundai van and my cousin’s white tamaraw fx in the corner of San Andres and Osmena Hi-way. Suddenly, police cars arrived and srpayed the (2) vehicles with bullets. Witnessess say some of the occupants were on cuffs and were brutally executed in front of them. Despite great risk,
Jonathan Tiongco infiltrated the WPD and prosecuted Gen. Bulaong and even Gen. Ebdane. The case is pending up to now at the ombudsman.

How can you make fun out of an honorable and patriotic man. While you people were excited with the Garci tapes, opposition people were bartering their votes for consessions to favor PGMA. The Garci tapes was an inside job, it was not meant to oust Gloria. Corrupt officials or so-called allies of hers even played it in order to scare her. Thats all…
Instead of making PGMA’s Generals weak, the Garci tapes only made the likes of Angelo Reyes and others more influential in her cabinet.

Now Bayan Muna members are helplessly massacred. Police agents are being sacrified to justify intelligence funds from the PAOCC or now NACTAF, which is headed by Angie Reyes. So why did Drilon, Ping, Gordon and especially Biazon confirm Angelo Reyes at the CA despite the efforts of Tiongco? I heard he was rediculed in the Senate and his evidence disregarded.

If Tiongco had no credibilty, then why did the Palace use him? So whose the bigger fool now? The CA or the Palace? With PGMA out, and Drilon in, you can be sure that Angelo Reyes would still be his DILG Secretary. So what’s more important for the People now? The Garci tapes or the reign of Angie Reyes, Ping Lacson and FVR? The death of more innocent people would continue and because of ignorant people with nothing to offer but big mouths, all talk, all blog, no action, someday… one of you guys would be the next murdered journalist. And Drilon, Ping, Escudero, Jinggoy and een Biazon would not give a damn!

With people like Tiongco now discouraged, as of now, I see no activist
confronting Angie Reyes and Military face to face. All noise, no action… What a shame.

I’m saving money here in Dubai so when I come home, I’ll follow the lead of people like Mr. Tiongco. I would see to it that the death of my cousin is given justce. And bet you, I’m sure with people like PCIJ around, PGMA would still be queen of the Philippine when I return.

The people who made fun out of Mr. Tiongco are the fools! And I could hear PGMA, GARCI and new Secretary Cheeze Escudero laughing.

“The 11-page complaint filed before the Department of Justice said that PCIJ executive director Sheila Coronel and the PCIJ’s board of directors were indirectly calling the public to go against the government.”

“”Due to such circulation of wiretapped audio recordings and transcripts, which suggested that the President cheated the elections, several sectors of Philippine society, here and abroad, were incited and induced to either call for the President’s ouster or resignation,” Tiongco said.”
