Claiming the future

WHILE members of the House of Representatives were busy making their three-minute speeches explaining their votes on the impeachment complaints, youth groups got together to make their stand. Calling themselves the Bukluran ng Kabataan para sa Katotohanan, they called for truth, justice and change. Below is their statement.

This is not the time to be silent. We the youth now stand up and claim our stake for the future of this country. The youth has always been a strong force in the critical junctures of history. We are responding to this call for the youth to be one of the prime movers of the nation’s progress.

We are the Filipino Youth, coming from different sectors, but what brings us together — we all want the truth to come out once and for all!

Allow the country to see. Allow the country to judge. Allow the truth to prevail!

Let the truth come out. Truth over perennial lies. Change over business as usual.  Country over personal interests.

The youth will never tire of demanding for justice. We will always believe in the real sense of democracy and will incessantly fight together for the revelation of the truth.

We call on the Filipino youth to be vigilant against other sectors that serve as a hindrance for the truth to come out. Clearly, what is on trial here is not just the Congress or our democratic institutions but the Filipino people and the country as a whole. This is the time when our country needs us most.

sorry ha. walang dating. so anong gusto nyo?

truth?
-gloria’s truth? or the opposition’s version?

mapayapa, makatarungan at demokratikong proseso ng paglalabas ng katotohanan?
-the administration claims that was exactly what just transpired in Congress.

pagbabago? gobyerno na may paninindigan?
-meron naman a… price tag ranges from P5.0 million to P100 million most probably.

Ive become jaded… tired and jaded.

Jaded that things could only get better from where we stand
and tired of walking the streets and shouting on top of my lungs for change.

Ive become part of the dreaded silent majority. Pathetic no?

I do believe however that change must be effected one person at a time.
Isa isa. Tao tao.

We can shout all we want and march all we want but if our elders and majority of those in the countryside are not presented with the issues in a manner they can easily comprehend and relate to, we are just “making noise.”

My family is politically divided as most Filipino families are nowadays. What does that tell us about our chances of ousting people the likes of Gloria? If we can’t get our acts together we dont stand a chance. I dont have to join the rallies to convince others that Gloria is the devil incarnate. I just have to convince my family she is and that small a thing… could probably make a difference. Tao tao. One at a time.

Masang Pilipino? Ang “common tao?” Why do the politicians often invoke them? Dahil ang akala nila bobo at madaling maloko. Work on your circle of influence. Baka naman… Sana naman… may mangyari.

Evil triumphs when good people do nothing. Lets redefine “silent majority”.

I have always said that the future of our country lies with the youth. The future of the Philippines is with you. God bless the young people who still have the idealism and principle to stand for what is right.

I agree entirely to what you said that evil triumphs because the good has been tepid in doing anything. I do not wish to call Gloria evil macapal lang ang mukha nya. She cheated, alright. the tapes speak for itself. pero tayo takot gumawa ng mga bagay na gawing tama ang nagawa nyang mali kasi pagnawala si gloria di natin alam kung ano ang kahihinatnan ng buhay natin.

fencesitter,

Exactly what my pro-gloria kin said. Her reason: Shes an economist and a much better alternative than the ones waiting on the wings. I countered her by saying how low she have sunk if her only reason for sticking with Gloria is her so-called credentials. Ano, ok lang magnakaw ng boto at manloko ng tao as long as youre a so-called “economist”? How far can you go to justify somebody who have no morals at all?

De Quiros is right. Black. White. Gray. Filipinos have become blind in distinguishing the color of truth. Pity me for living with kin that have suddenly gone blind. And to think those I speak about belong to the so-called “youth” and “future” of our Motherland.

Kaya nga ako naging silent majority. Disgusted ako.

Suddenly whatever it is that Gloria would do doesnt seem as threatening as the thought that we live in a time that have been robbed of a future.

Everybody is already tired of going around the same circle and ending with nothing again. But I wont mind going around again just so I can make a stand that I cant tolerate what GMA had done to my vote and my country.

Poison Ink,

You may not have to be crest fallen just because your next of kin is for Gloria. You must not sulk in disgust. Keep quiet and you will end up surrendering to what we call evil. Tama si de quiroz, the issue involving Gloria has successfully mudden the truth. Many pundits are saying that the truth now is subjective. If that is so then each man to his own which is abominable to civilized society. there must be a way, an objective way of separating true from false.

No, we’re not afraid, hindi tayo takot kumilos na itama ang mali. I’m humbly said I’m wrong and coward.

Anjan pa rin ang mga mapagsamantala at oportunista sa opposition. una, de saint, hindi tayo pupunta ng kalsada dahil lan lang na tayo ay nakantyawan na BULAG, PIPI o BINGI. we must be there in fellowship of those who seek for accountability of Goria’s conduct in the election.

kavenishi,

Hindi ko po ibig sabihin ok na nandaya si Gloria, and i will not tolerating that. I want arroyo to be out of office. But I don’t want to underestimate her coz she is magulang and i hate this but she is smart. What i mean here is let’s relax first, regroup, reasses our moves, re-plan our action. This will not be an easy fight, it takes a lot of effort and energy.
We need to re-plan our strategy, wag lang rally ang nasa isip…

kavenishi, what is your sense in not tolerating arroyo? because so far, you ONLY showed that you are NOT tolerating the moves by the oust-gloria movement.

a very contradicting stance or an out-of-focus principle at best.

like an “i-will-not-tolerate-arroyo” in principle but will tolerate arroyo in reality.

Noelet,
maybe this is out of topic, but for your information i never voted PGMA since birth. I don’t like her very much. I voted for the late Sen. Roco in 1998 & 2004. So do you think i have clamour to PGMA. I’m an anti-arroyo but maybe yes i just keep quiet and doing nothing and not helping the cause of the anti-arroyo. But it doesn’t mean I’m tolerating her in what she is doing.

The truth, is definitely black and white, there is no inbetween. But I believe that the reason why people arent’ coming out in hordes to suppose the pro-impeachment process is because, most like me – regard them as headless.

sino ang papalit kay Gloria? I personally do not want a caretaker gov’t, nor one headed by Renato De Villa. I would settle for the constitutionally elected Noli de Castro – because we need to move on.

Taking to the streets isn’t the solution. There needs to be a system to this. If they were as passionate as all this, they should have gone congressman to congressman. Instead, they looked and acted petulant, like their right was the only right.

I would not call my fellow pilipinos pathetic, it’s the minority because they did not spend enough time planning how to articulate their sentiments to the public, in clear and concise ways.

wala, until the opposition clearly articulates their sentiments, plans well and drops the caretaker idea, they will have a difficult time pushing their agenda.

To pinaywriter at iba pa!

Sa totoo lang once Gloria steps down- anarchy n chaos will rule the streets.

Oo, totoong mandurugas si Gloria, magnanakaw, sinungaling- the Worst Ever President of the Phil.

what would be the grounds for a snap election? when both the president and vice-president resign? when the president calls for it?

reality check. gma seem not resigning. noli seem not resigning. gma is not offering a snap election – either the truth commission or answering the impeachment.

ano ba yan bawat hakbang me blockade kaagad… aba e parang ayaw mo na umandar nyan pareng nnk… ano ha?

oo hindi dapat si gma. ang solusyon paalisin. pero pagpinaalis si gma ayaw ng militante kay noli. so paalisin. pero pag wala si noli wala na anarchy na… are we spreading a doomsday idea here?

seem sad but true. here comes the doomsayers.

if you continously switch your faith and principle wala ka talagang mapupuntahan.
