FORMER Pres. Corazon Aquino will lead today’s 11 a.m. press conference of the newly formed Bukluran para sa Katotohanan at the De La Salle Greenhills Board Room to announce its statement of unity, the full text of which you can read below:

Statement of Unity: Bukluran para sa Katotohanan

We come from all walks of life, from different political, cultural, and economic persuasions, different points of view. But in diversity, we find a cause for unity. That cause for unity is our common objective to secure the truth.

We all seek the truth. We want the truth to come out. And yet every means for seeking the truth has been frustrated; every avenue for arriving at the truth has been blocked; and every opportunity to find the truth is being closed.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s response to our call for the truth has been to suppress evidence, hide her accomplices, engage in a grand cover-up, sow fear, foment distrust and use every instrument at her disposal to encourage division among our people.

We will not be divided in these critical times.

We say with one voice, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo must go. For the good of the country, she must go. For the sake of our nation’s future, she must go. For the preservation of hope as a motive force in our national life, she must go.

We are united by the belief that this crisis must be resolved in a manner that is peaceful and democratic. Without the truth, there cannot be peace; without the truth, there is no genuine democracy. The truth must set our nation free.

Unite for the truth. Demand the truth. Defend the truth.

Naku. Sounds like another “statements” arms race is in the works. 😀

Where will it lead? Here are some familiar terms: “kapit bisig”, “maki-baka”, “maki-isa”, and of course “people power”.

Yes GMA must go DEMOCRATICALLY, but are we willing to let democracy work for us? If so, how come the representatives we ELECTED into office are not working to serve OUR interests? Could it be because we DID NOT THINK during the last congressional elections?

Yes, we must “Unite for the truth. Demand the truth. Defend the truth.” But can we HANDLE the truth?

Why does it always come to this. Maybe it is because there is so much food for thought, BUT so little in the way of minds to feed. All we are is a nation of warm bodies to constitute this and that “movement” and form ragged armies of hollow heads to march on our tired old streets.

I wrote the following several years back:

(follow this link to view the entire article)
http://www.geocities.com/benign0/agr-disagr/12-erap.html

“The two EDSA revolutions are examples of our penchant for anger and indignation at a national level. Whenever the occasion calls for it, Filipinos are quick to the draw (a trait shared by Erap himself in his manner of conduct during ambush interviews). We sit back and allow our problems to fester then, at the eleventh hour, go all out to seek a quick fix. And, make no mistake, our quick fixes are effective – in the short-term. Both EDSA revolutions demonstrated this. However, it is disturbing to note some parallelisms between this and how we manage our roads. Our roads are rotten and structurally unsound on the inside, crumbling at the slightest bout of rainfall and subject to high-profile cosmetic repair work and asphalt overlays every election time. But the core remains rotten. In the same way that we will always have an abundance of cheap labour to dig up and re-pave our roads every year, so too do we have a rich reserve of warm bodies to march into EDSA whenever our rotten institutions crumble.” 😀

I am proud of President Cory Aquino.

The truth shall set you free.

Si FVR and JDV. It seems naisahan sila ni gloria. Nagmukhang mahina ngayon sila.

The truth shall set you free.

Enough of lies and more lies. We all know that the father of all lies is Satan. Behind every lie is the devil.

The truth shall set you free.

The Caving Roof

I’m almost as tempted comparing much of the noises whether PGMA should just leave or be heard, be allowed a day in court, in one Hollywood movie apparently depicting a macho senior military officer hurling invectives saying to a military counsel in a military judicial proceedings ‘You can’t handle the Truth’!!

But as always, truth does prevail, but at what expense?

Mrs Aquino was herself installed as president because truth had to prevail, her predecessor being all but a representation of something that represent everything that seemingly was wrong, everything evil!

And so, the People Power of the mass of bewildered people though hungry beat the odds amid tanks and guns.

Has there been any to say yes, we were right in removing the wrong person, but what have we done to correct what’s been wrong?

The odds of people of the left and of the right, the Muslims up in arms and criminality on the loose, organized crime on the upswing and are all here in the country empowered to a pedigree that has now transgressed into a multi-billion peso business empire, can we all be together in saying we can’t be wrong?

I would probably liken our present-day tumult to car manufacturers allowed in the country to market freely, but have we ever thought we do not have the roads to accommodate each and every one of them, so that we have to grimace the bamboozled mind of MMDA Bayani Fernando mocking up roads like a U turn here there and everywhere, this could be the dead end for the country as a nation struggling to be one.

Can there be U turns all the time?

Let us allow justice take its discourse and not excite people into another turmoil no one can tell, at least if we can make our congress work remove PGMA, well and good, but what if she evade, defends herself make her not lose? PGMA prevailing from her predicament cannot be our fault as a nation so squalid we can’t think straight enough, but whose fault is this? Who are the framers of this laws that made PGMA evade impeachment?

We must make resolutions to correct errors in crafting our system of running things, let us overhaul the system and make it work!

Or convene as a Parliament, invite Jose Maria Sison and all the other insurgents, the Muslims everyone, make them help rectify our nations problem by indulging in a parliamentary debate, then let us have our parliamentary elections free from cheats in 2007.

The truth shall set as free! I really admire the organizations who joined hands to find the truth .Everyone should unite to find the truth! Im just saddened by the blind support of the ASSUMPTION NUNS (RA) WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM? They should pray more, contemplate, and maybe they will find the light their looking for. It is so DISAPPOINTING!!, Cory even went there for a mass, What a shame, THEY SHOULD BE MORE OBEJECTIVE RATHER THAN PROTECT gma because she is an Assumtionista. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

The TRUTH is the TRUTH it is as simple as that!! When you ask a 5 year old boy, he will know what the truth is !! there is no need for legal terms, no need of explanation, there is no need for technicality!! If GMA is not guilty why is she evading questions about garci and the election, why is she hiding behind legal technicalities, why is she talking to the congressmen, why does she not face the truth head on. The truth may hurt but the truth shall set her free. Free from GREED, Free from the thirst for POWER, free from SIN. A leader should lead by example, and what example she has been!! She is an example of what a leader SHOULD NOT BE!! She is an example of what our society has become!! REMOVING HER SHOULD BE OUR FIRST STEP. The next will be REMOVING OTHER TRAPOS. and last we should also reflect on how we contributed to the ill of society. How we become selfish, apathetic, self righteous. LETS START ALL OVER AGAIN!!! LETS BUILD A STRONGER COUNTRY THAT BUILT ON GOD,TRUST,SELFLESSNESS, AND TRUTH!!! The road ahead is not easy but if we unite nothing is impossible!! GOD BLESS our COUNTRY!!

September 7th, 2005 at 8:32 pm

[…] Of the two though, the former seems now a less appealing option. Even among the impeachment complaint endorsers in the House, there is as yet no consensus as to the filing of a petition with the Supreme Court. Yesterday, in fact, the lawmakers already turned over the impeachment documents to the Bukluran para sa Katotohanan, a recently formed coalition of anti-Arroyo forces led by former Pres. Corazon Aquino and Susan Roces, in a symbolic gesture that can only suggest the futility of efforts through legal means. […]

[…] You can see why it’s in the Opposition’s interest to frame the unseating of a duly-elected President as a “search for Truth and Justice”, and nothing but. There are too many questions left unanswered (and you thought Gloria was the Queen of leaving us all hanging). Too many complications might ensue from answering such simple questions as “Who will replace Gloria once she’s out?” or “Do the provinces get a say in this?” […]
