Luz’s official statement

JUAN Miguel Luz is staying put as education undersecretary for finance and will bring a case before the Civil Service Commission if Malacañang insists on sacking him.

Luz, a career executive service officer, is scheduled to meet with Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita on Thursday to resolve the issue following Ermita’s announcement last week that the education undersecretary has been relieved of his functions.

CSC Chairperson Karina Constantino-David has asked to be present at the meeting.

Luz has released a statement, "Setting the Record Straight," on the events that led to his relief.  Read the statement.

Kudos to Mr. Luz for fighting for what he believe is right. He is not only fighting for himself but also for other career goverment employee who may fell victims to the vindictiveness of this administration. Please keep up the fight and don’t give in to any carrots that they may dangle in front of you.

Great move Usec. Luz. This is what all public servants should emulate. To stand by what you believe is moral and right is what we must instill in every Filipino. Public servants must serve and be loyal to the people not to the president.

I detest the government’s practice of harassing former and current officials who go against the pres. To fight for what is moral and right is not a crime.

I wish that there were more honest people in the government like Undersec. Luz whose main reason for being in his position is to serve the people who deserves better that what our Predient and her lying, cheating and stealing cronies . People like the president will go to any lenght to destroy honest and honorable people because they get on their way.
Hopefully this will open the eyes of more people in the government to change their ways and help kick out our evil and corrupt president sooner than later.

miguel luz should not accept any offer in exchange of his termination to his current position. as what he had said in the interview at anc, it is his expertice to be an educator. knowing malacanan, ermita might transfer him to other govt. institutions para “pakonswelo de bobo”. go miguel! lets fight this govt of arroyo harrassing and scaring not only govt officials but the public in general just like what “calibrated preemtive response” states no permit no rally- unconstitutional. BE NOT AFRAID!!!

Another exercise of poor judgment. Mental lapse again? Bad decision one after another coming in the heels of the Venable fiasco. And maybe another one coming up on the NorthRail Express? GMA and those around her must be some kind of sadists with the way they give critics reasons to horsewhip this government.

Juan Miguel Luz is one patriot that every government worker, particularly in high offices, should emulate.

GLORIA seems to be running this country as if she owns it! Mr. Luz did the right thing when he questioned before the CSC the termination letter issued to him by Ermita. So now what’s next?

If we let GMA run the country like this we will end up DEAD!! Imagine alloting billions of pesos in the the so called “Healing the wounds of EDSA 1 & 2!!!
Filipinos think again!!!

A previous blogpost here said:

CESB records show that 6,386 positions are supposed to be occupied by CESOs, of which 3,486 are in the national government and 2,900 in government corporations. In all, there are 5,976 CESOs in and out of the government service.

However, only 39.5 percent of the more than 6,000 positions have been given to eligibles under the Arroyo administration.

CSC sources blamed this on Arroyo’s penchant for appointing non-CESOs to these managerial positions, as well as creating new items for assistant secretary and undersecretary that are now being occupied by non-eligibles.

Sources also expressed concern over the number of CESOs that have been eased out and transferred to other positions or put in the freezer to accommodate the non-CESOs appointed by the president.
——————————-
can someone come out with a list of the 60.5% positions which are supposed to be occupied by a CESO but are not?

without looking at the list nevertheless, can i safely assume that majority of these positions are, ehem, involved in procurements, biddings, fund management…? just thinkin out loud. go figure.

at any rate, one should have a feature on acquiring a CESO eligibility so people could understand how hard it is to get one, and the evaluate the professional profile of CESO eligibles. Hindi biro maging CESO. Baka akala nila nakakakuha lang nito sa palengke, or sa mga fly-by-night graduate schools dyan sa tabi-tabi….

is Garci a CESO?… geesh, creepy.

OT: The latest Rebecca McKinnon article in it’s entirety

China’s State Newspaper: “The Internet is forbidden from inciting illegal protests.”

Maybe this is where we are headed next under the Arroyo admin. I won’t be surprised kung pinag-aaralan na rin nila yung strategy ng China to crush dissent.

They already made a similar attempt earlier with the MTRCB memo.
