nolidecastro.jpgALL the talk about the possible post-Gloria Macapagal Arroyo options has again put Vice President Noli de Castro on the spot. Two scenarios contemplated by the Black and White Movement, for instance, envision the vice president, being the constitutional successor, acting as the transition president to oversee reforms and a new presidential election.

De Castro is definitely a breath away from the highest position of the land, but he has kept Filipinos guessing about his plans and position on the country’s political situation, saying nothing more than that he will abide by the Constitution.

"Kabayan" might just one day become president. But why are Filipinos lukewarm about a de Castro presidency? What do they foresee happening when it comes time for him to be Malacanang’s occupant?

The Man Who Would Be President, an i Report feature, sheds light on some of the issues being raised against the man who is dubbed as the Joseph Estrada of the 1990s and who has come a long way from his beginnings as an unheralded radio broadcaster.

Nasa’n Ka Bayani by Rye Bosco :)

Pag gising ng lahat
hindi nila alam
kung saan maghahanap
kung saan patungo.
Sa calle o basura
kung saan man may ginto.
Pero iyak at hirap ang premio.

Mga walang pag-asa sa…..
sariling bansa…..
Napano ang Pilipinas?
Pinagtatawanan!
Katulong, magnanakaw o walang pinag-aralan.
Iyan ang tingin
ng mundo sa atin.
Perlas pa ba sa silanganan?

Natatandaan
mo ba nung araw?
Napaka yaman ng ating bansa.
Malinis ang paligid,
may consciensa ang lahat.
Matalino daw maganda daw
ang sabi sa buong asia

Mga walang pag-asa sa…..
sariling bansa…..
Napano ang Pilipinas?
Pinagtatawanan!
Katulong, magnanakaw o walang pinag-aralan.
Iyan ang tingin
ng mundo sa atin.
Perlas pa ba sa silanganan?

Nag-aalisan!
Nag-sasakiman!
Nag-papatayan!
Walang pakialam!

Napano ang Pilipinas?
Pinagtatawanan!
Katulong, magnanakaw o walang pinag-aralan.
Iyan ang tingin
ng mundo sa atin.
Perlas pa ba sa silanganan?
Nasa’n Ka Bayani?

Don’t despair, Kabayang Rye Bosco

If you have a Time magazine, 10 October 2005 issue and check its page 72. You will find an essay entitled “Land without Shame”.

Excerpts from said article :

” It’s hard to believe that just a decade ago, Italy called its leaders to account in dramatic fashion. A handful of prosecutors in Milan led by Antonio di Pietro sparked a revolution by investigating the corrupt ties between business and politics. Dozens of heads rolled in crackdown, known as mani pulite, or clean hands, which lead to reshaping of the Italian political landscape. The mani pulite revolution turned into a circus of endless investigation and recrimination, and many Italians tired of it. Magistrates lost their hero status. Even Di Pietro ended up under investigation; he is now making a second try at a career in politics.”

Obviously, our beloved country is not alone in the category of ningas-cogon mentality.

One good thing though, we, Filipinos always hope and pray for the best.

Stedi and hawak lang jan :)

“hope and pray”??

Hope and pray for WHAT exactly?

Galing natin mag-“hope” and mag-“pray” pero when it comes to the more advanced task of ARTICULATING exactly WHAT it is we “hope” and “pray” for, mukhang mahihinang ulo ang lumilitaw.

And so what if our country is “not alone” in the debilitating “ningas-cogon” mentality? Does that make this rather unsavory trait any better for us in ABSOLUTE terms? Ano ‘to, naghahanap ng kadamay sa pagka-ningas-cogon natin?

Dyast a pyu pud for tots, polks (written using the abakada para masabing nationalistic naman). 😉

Kung wala kang relihiyon, tulad ka ng isang bangka walang layag o walang timon.

Articulating is a product of mind and spirit. To be clear in expressing views. Hope and pray basics of mortality. Kung anong level, nasa gumagawa.

Your food for thoughts ayon sa akala mo lang.

i think that whilst religion is good, at the same time we cannot simply leave everything up to God. the Philippines is stuck in the middle ages in the sense that blind faith rules the uneducated to a very large extent. we should stop looking for heroes and face our reality in a rational manner. i hate the way pinoys care too much about their damned ungrateful families and couldnt care less about anyone else. that is the downfall of the filipino. he is too emotional. he lacks the strength needed to live in the real world. he is fickle, lacks conviction. hence the few that do have the determination most lack, do in fact leave and succeed elsewhere.

we are in the middle ages. do we turn to prayer as a release from the bleak realities of life or is it becauase of our backward religious practices that makes life miserable as true hapinness can only be found in the after life.

I donot agree with abortion per se, but i do think if catholicism respected our free will, it should be a personal choice. by giving women a choice, it doesnt mean we are advocating bortion. besides catholicism has a positive view of man, hence they shoudl trust people to make their own judgement. by tying religious rules with the rule of man, we pull ourselves down. economic solutions will never be found in the bible. although it is in our faith that we find the hope we need to solve such problems.

all of our sentiments in this blog are valid. however, the fact that we cannot accept what others say and listen and count others’ opinions as valid only makes our own points weaker. we have to look at all sides of the pathetic political situation to find a viable solution. charter change perhaps, but the truth is that most filipinos are greedy family oriented cowards. heroes are there to emulate and not simply admire. truth is, it seems ninoy, jose rizal and the like died for nothing.

we are an embarrasment to these men. nakakahiya tayo, buti na lang hindi nila nakikita kung paano natin sinisira ang ating mga sarili.

Cumusta Filipinas! Hope everyone is doing well.
As a gauge, please answer the following because I’m just curious:

1. Yes or No–are you willing to sacrifice your life to help our
country?

2. If yes, what one deed would you offer to help our nation?

the perpetual foundation of the filipino cycle of choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea – noli de castro is the next symbol as such…..but, yeah, constitutional blah warrants it…c’est la vie….yet,
wolf in sheepskin; still waters run havoc; etc etc – may well cause
more than goose bumps……
and with a lopez on top of the nightmarish syndromes? that
makes a noli plus plus pathetic; a noli plus plus insult to injury; a
noli plus plus double jeopardy; a noli plus plus rubbin salt on wound…..

anyway, am caloused by doubts and fears – i ain’t gonna be
shocked anymore….

i have prepared myself long way back to a 60 to 1; to 8%
inflation to 15% unemployment; to 4% GDP; to PhP250B deficit by 2010 with or without the noli plus plus

maybe MAR ROXAS will be the messiah….maybe….

meantime, i ride the tide of enjoying texting; malling; teleserye;
telefantasya; telenovela; fast food; junk food; tabloids; and
horse riding blogs…..
