Covering Cory

Members of the old Malacanang Press Corps (1986-1992) had a small reunion during the wake and burial of former President Cory Aquino to pay their respects to an ordinary housewife who turned out to be an extraordinary President.

Covering Cory was certainly no easy matter, and there were many occassions when reporters had to write and rewrite the book on covering the chief executive. But it was a learning experience for both a newly freed press, and a newly accountable presidency.
