barred from Burma concert
A Burmese hip hop artist known for the pro-democracy themes in his songs has been banned from performing during a charity concert scheduled for Saturday, August 6, in Rangoon, according to Mizzima news, a news organization run by exiled Burmese journalists.
Zay Yar Thaw is one of the founders of Generation Wave, an underground music group that specializes in pro-democracy messages in its hip hop songs.
