FOI on GMA’s Investigative Docus

Why does the Philippines need a Freedom of Information (FOI) law, and what is keeping Congress from passing one? These are among some of the issues addressed in a special episode of Investigative Documentaries, a documentary program aired by GMANewsTV, the all-news channel of GMA-7.

The episode, which aired last August 4, 2011, featured three staffmembers of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ): Sheila Coronel, founding Executive Director and a member of the PCIJ Board of Editors; Malou Mangahas, PCIJ’s current Executive Director and also the Secretary of the Board of Editors, and Ed Lingao, PCIJ Multimedia head.

To Ms. Malou Mangahas

I’v read an article in GMA’s website titled Streetlights in the dark, and many of us think that it needs to be a good topic in your Investigative Documentaries. And may cover wider that would include PAGCOR’s streetlamps which were installed in already lighted areas and comparison of cost in procurement and maintenance of traditional and solar powered LED streetlights.
