PCIJ series on children wins
top prize in 7th PopDev Awards
The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism is proud to announce that its three-part series on special and gifted children won the Best Feature or Magazine Award in the recently concluded Population and Development Awards held by the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development Foundation.
The three-part series was coauthored by PCIJ Research Director Karol Ann Ilagan, and PCIJ Fellows Charlene Tordesillas, Rorie Fajardo, Fortunato Tacuboy III, and University of the Philippines Professor Michael Tan. The series ran from January 3 to 5 2011, and was published in several major newspapers and on the PCIJ website.
The series focused on the dilemmas that Filipino families face when dealing with “different” children, whether they are differently-abled, extremely gifted, or requiring special attention.
