SENATOR-JUDGE Ramon Revilla Jr. cast the 16th vote that convicted Chief Justice Renato Corona for culpable violation of the Consitution and betrayal of the public trust for Article II of the impeachment complaint alleging failure to fully disclose his assets.

Revilla said that in as much as he thought that Corona was worthy of all the respect for his office and his person, he has to be the “epitome of the public servant.”

“Alang alang sa pagkakaisa at paghilom ng bayan, alang alang sa pagpapatibay ng insti ng pamahalaan, alang alang sa darating pang henerasyon at ating kinabukasan, I find Chief Justice Renato Corona guilty,” Revilla said.

The Constitution requires a vote of two thirds of the senate sitting as the impeachment court for an official to be found guilty. Two-thirds of the 23 sitting senators translates to 16 votes.
